Dr. Natalie Arnett is currently an Associate Professor in both the Department of Chemistry at Florida A&M University and the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at the Florida A&M University-Florida State University (FAMU-FSU) College of Engineering in Tallahassee, Florida.  At FAMU, Dr. Arnett teaches General Chemistry and Advance Organic Chemistry along with engaging undergraduate and graduate students in research.

Dr. Arnett received her BS in Chemistry from Grambling State University and her PhD from Virginia Tech.  After graduation she accepted a position at Fisk University in 2009 where she remained for ten years teaching, conducting research, and mentoring students at Fisk University in Nashville, TN.  At Fisk, Dr. Arnett developed a polymer research program that has trained numerous undergraduate and MA students.  She was also a part of the Fisk-Vanderbilt Bridge Program.  Dr. Arnett also served as the Chair of the Life and Physical Sciences Department, Director of Graduate Studies in Chemistry at Fisk University and had an Adjunct Appointment in the Department of Chemistry at Vanderbilt University as part of her participation in the Fisk-Vanderbilt Master’s to PhD Program.

Dr. Arnett’s overall research focuses on synthesizing and characterizing various synthetic and biopolymers for applications in fuel cells, reverse osmosis, and drug delivery.   In January 2015, Dr. Arnett received an NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program award to support her fuel cell membranes research  and integration of this polymer-based research into general chemistry lecture and lab courses. She has also been awarded an NSF Excellence in Research (EiR) and PREM Seed grants to continue her research efforts.
